Upper Hulme is a tiny hamlet clustered around an old mill on the upper reaches of the River Churnet. It is picturesque both because of its position, for it is the gateway to the Roaches and Hen Cloud as well as being close to Ramshaw Rocks, and because the houses and farms are built of a beautiful local red sandstone. For those needing some refreshment there is a pub called The Rock, but other than that this remote village is hardly touched by time and would make a great Peak DistrictGroup Accommodation venue for those looking to get away from it all and enjoy some breathtaking countryside.
