Description
Barn Farm With Buildings dating back to the 1500's, Barn Farm is a traditional Derbyshire gritstone stock farm, in one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District. Overlooking the beautiful Derwent Valley, the farm is a haven for wildlife including badgers and rare Black Fallow deer. It boasts over 60 species of birds such as Nuthatch, Dippers and Peregrine Falcons.
Located 7 miles south of the historic market town of Bakewell and three miles west of Matlock, Barn Farm is ideally situated to access the diverse array of local attractions.
The Limestone Way passes close by the farm, which is situated on the junction of no less than four major footpaths. There are well-maintained footpaths throughout the area.
Bordering the farm is the mystical Stanton Moor with its ancient 'Nine Ladies' stone circle. A little farther the River Lathkill provides the focus of a pleasant walk through the beautiful Lathkill Dale. Robin Hood's Stride and Catcliffe Rocks are just two of the local climbing areas. There are many excellent sports facilities within the region such as fishing, riding and watersports.
Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are close by. Matlock Bath boasts the children's attraction 'Gullivers Kingdom' and a cable car to the Heights of Abraham. There is also the Derbyshire Wildlife's Whistlestop Centre and Mining Museum.
Facilities The main shower block is heated and it is open 24 hours a day. In addition, there are laundry and drying facilities. There is a drinking water from all taps and there is a facility for pot washing. Waste bins are provided and are emptied daily. Separate sauna available for booking.
